Howdy!
How's everyone going? Maybe you know it, maybe you don't but here things were pretty bad. Talking first of all of course of the floodings. They litterally formed a massive blockade between me and Sydney. But also my car. It has broken down twice in 1 day. So last month I spent a lot of time waiting for it. First in Cairns for a check, where they said nothing was wrong (although we couldn't start it in the mornings), then in the Whitsundays, where I busted my break and a third time here in Mackay. We had the breakes fixed in Airlie BEach, together with the starting problem. But that same night, my clutch broke and we were stranded 50km out of civ. And I can tell you, tow wagens to that spot are expensive.. :S
Anyway, the car is fixed now. Even better, by now half the car has been replaced, so there's nothing left to break down. :) Will leave in couple of hours, on my own. Janine left 2 days ago, to Bundaberg for work. I'll visit her tonight, and although I would like to work there as well and get some more cash, it's better if I get to Sydney asap and sell the car. Don't wanna run out of time to do that. And I already found another petrol buddy. From Rainbow beach a person named Simone will join me.
Ow yeah, at the moment I'm staying with a local: Jody. A 50 year old grand dad who works in the parks in Mackay. He saw us stranded there after the first night and he took us in!! Bit scary at first, you know all the backpacker murder stories, but he's really cool. We met half his family since we've been invited to B-day parties, dinners and drinking in the evening. For the rest, I've eaten more meat here then in my trip, Jody likes steak/BBQ. :P Also, he showed us around town and even drove to a gorge where we went for a walk and cooled down at the river. So, it's proven: there's still good people in this world!
Well, gotta go. Still have to buy him a thank you gift and still have to pack the car and it's already 9.30 :S

Gelukkig leef je idd nog, maar er zijn ook hele lieve mensen op de wereld, zo zie je maar weer :).
Succes met de weg naar Sydney, hoop dat je niet teveel last onderweg meer van het water hebt. Wat zijn je plannen als je met succes de auto verkocht hebt?? Langzaam naar de andere kant van de wereld komen??

toevoeginkje over de 650km die ik vandaag gereden heb:
1) heb schorpioen gezien (onder mn auto) en een platipus (helaas dood)
2) reed in een eucalyptesbos en het begon vol te regenen waardoor ik het zelf in mn wagen rook door de ventilatie. mooie was dat er ook nog een BLAUWE! maan tevoorschijn kwam achter de wolken
3) heb wederom mn sleepkabel gebruikt, dit keer om iemand zijn wagen uit de modder/water te trekken (auto erin tot t venster). toen hij zn deur opende stroomde het wat eruit. :S Goede daad van mij en een geluk voor hem dat zn wagen t nog deed
4) net met janine ff bijgeklets en gepooled in bundaberg, maar lig nu in mn wagen op een rest area, dus truste!! -
